The French Bulldog's history involves three key countries: England, France, and America.

It all began in England, where the ancestor of today’s bulldog was a muscular,

athletic dog used in bull-baiting 150-200 years ago.

English breeders then created variations: some bred larger,

heavier dogs with exaggerated features, while others developed smaller,

lighter toy bulldogs weighing 12-25 pounds.

These smaller dogs, often with upright “bat” ears or rose ears,

gained popularity among workers in the Midlands.

During the Industrial Revolution, many lace-makers and artisans

migrated from England to northern France,

bringing their small bulldogs with them.

These dogs became popular in Normandy and Paris,

where they were known as Bouledogues Français.

They were favored by everyday Parisians and featured in art,

notably Toulouse-Lautrec’s paintings.

French breeders then refined the breed further,

creating a more uniform, compact dog

with straight legs and a less exaggerated underjaw.

American breeders, inspired by French dogs, especially favored those

with erect ears, aligning with aesthetic preferences.

Wealthy Americans traveling in France brought French Bulldogs back home,

helping to establish the breed in the U.S.

In 1896, French Bulldogs were first exhibited at Westminster, with both ear types shown.

Although the breed was not yet officially recognized by the AKC,

it quickly gained popularity, becoming a fashionable and iconic companion breed.

Our story with the breed begins with our first puppy, named...

The Cane Corso is an ancient Italian breed with a rich history.

Its ancestor is the "Canis Pugnax," the old Roman Molossian.

The Corso is a lighter version used as an auxiliary warrior in Roman wars,

while the heavier lineage is the Neapolitan Mastiff.

The name "Cane Corso" means "dog guardian" in Italian.

Historically, the Corso was a versatile hunting dog

or large game and a protector of property and livestock.

Over time, as farming declined, its roles diminished.

After World War II, the breed nearly disappeared,

but in the 1970s, enthusiasts began reviving it

by searching remote villages for remaining Corsos.

Corsos are highly intuitive and protective,

forming strong bonds with their families.

They need firm, consistent leadership and early socialization.

They are gentle with children and deeply devoted,

with playful personalities for loved ones.

Despite their tough look, they can be sensitive and may sulk if reprimanded.

They crave attention and are known as "velcro dogs."

Without early socialization, they can suffer from separation anxiety.

A Cane Corso is a loyal, loving companion that requires commitment,

leadership, moderate exercise, and affection.

In return, you'll gain a lifelong protector and friend.

Our story begins with our first puppy, named...

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dates back to 16th-century England,

descended from small Toy Spaniels favored by royalty.

These dogs had longer snouts, thinner limbs

and served as companions, lap warmers, and flea repellents.

During the Stuart era, they gained the name "King Charles Spaniels,"

thanks to King Charles II, who loved them and allowed them in public spaces,

earning the nickname "Cavalier." His reign inspired the breed’s royal status.

In the 1920s, American Roswell Eldridge visited England

and offered prize money to revive the long-nosed "old type" spaniel,

which had nearly vanished.

Breeders like Mrs. Pitt began breeding the original style,

forming the foundation of the modern Cavalier.

In 1928, the breed was officially named "Cavalier King Charles Spaniel,"

with a standard based on paintings and the original long-faced look.

After WWII, the breed regained popularity, earning recognition

and championship status in the UK.

Today, the Cavalier is loved for its affectionate nature and regal history,

making it a beloved companion worldwide.
